On Thursday, December 1, 2016, Aldine Middle hosted a preliminary school science fair. Students were given the criteria earlier this year, and a brave few accepted the challenge. Students had been working months to create world-changing experiments, hoping to earn themselves a spot to represent AMS in the annual District Science Fair. These young scientists created their own hypotheses, carried out actual experiments, collected data, and defended their projects to a live panel of judges. For many students, this was the first time they’d ever participated in an educational activity that required so much of them. This project required students to think critically, problem solve, and prove their determination and willingness to succeed. Out of about 35 students that participated in the preliminary science fair, the top 10 projects were chosen. These are some of the most innovative experiments that Aldine has seen yet. The selected students will continue to fine-tune their projects with the support of their teachers and will prove to be formidable opponents in the Aldine District Science Fair.
